PCB grant four lac rupees to Skipper Misbah, Hafeez, Afridi and Zulifqar babar on their performance in W.I as reward

The caretaker Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board, Mr Najam Sethi has approved cash awards to the Pakistan men’s and women’s teams that have recently won laurels in the West Indies and England respectively.
“The performances of both our men’s and women’s teams merited a reward. The tenacity shown by the boys under Misah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez in the West Indies was quite remarkable. The women’s team too has maintained an upwardly mobile trajectory and their achievement of finishing the ICC Qualifiers for the World T20 championship on top of the event is indeed commendable.
“The PCB management is positive that the cash rewards and recognition shall inspire both teams to keep it up and notch greater accomplishments”, said Mr Najam Sethi.
The Pakistan squad under Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez had given an impressive performance against the West Indies, winning the ODI rubber 3-1 before blanking the hosts in two Twenty20 Internationals. Of the seven matches across the two formats, Pakistan lost just one, winning five besides one ODI ending in a tie.
The entire Pakistan ODI and T20 squad was awarded Rs200,000/- apiece while the support staff each got Rs100,000/-. The four stand-out performers, two each from the ODIs and T20 Internationals, were given additional rewards of Rs400,000/- apiece. These were: Misbah ul Haq (ODI Man of the Series); Shahid Khan Afridi (Best bowling figures in ODI series); Zulfiqar Babar (T20 Man of the Series); Umar Akmal (Best Overall performance with the bat and behind the stumps).
The Pakistan women’s squad was awarded Rs100,000/- apiece while the team officials were given Rs50,000/- each.
The Pakistan women’s team had an exceptionally successful tour of England, where they defeated England Academy, followed by a series victory against Ireland and a drawn rubber against England. Subsequently it emerged on the top in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifiers, sharing the title with Sri Lanka in a rain-affected final. This command performance earned them qualification for the Women World T20 tournament to be held next year in Bangladesh.
