Korea’s 6-5 victory over Pakistan marks a significant achievement for the Korean team, especially considering their previous head-to-head record. Prior to this semi-final clash, Pakistan and Korea had played a total of ten matches. Pakistan emerged victorious in five of those encounters, while Korea managed to win only two. The remaining three matches ended in draws, including the 3-3 draw in the Asian Champions Trophy stage one.

Pakistan has historically performed well against India, boasting 82 victories out of 176 encounters. However, in recent years, the Pakistan Hockey team has struggled against their arch-rivals. This trend includes their recent match in the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2021, where Pakistan lost 1-3 to India in the stage one match.
